An ancient silver cauldron discovered during excavations near Arzamas


Archaeologists discovered an ancient church drinking ladle after communion during excavations near the village of Vyzhnoye near the Church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Odigitriya” Smolenskaya. The ladle, which belongs to the second half of the XVII century – first half of the XVIII century, was found in good condition.

Korets is a small ladle, which was used for drinking after communion. This find can be very interesting for historians who study religious traditions and customs of that time.

Earlier, local residents complained about the scattered bones and skulls on Cathedral Square. However, as it turned out, they belonged to domestic animals. No human graves were found there.
