Hillevi Andersson, who celebrated her 36th birthday a few days ago, was at home with her three children: Cecilia, Elizabeth and Robert.
When some friends canceled the meeting, at 7:30 pm, she picked up the phone to call her parents Svea and Hildor in the Orkesta area, just 13 minutes away by car, to see how they were doing.
For unknown reasons, they could not come, which made her worried – she was so worried that she took the children, loaded them into the car and drove to her parents’ secluded country house.
As she drove down Lindholmen Road towards the Orchest, she noticed something in the sky, a large, round, luminous object that seemed to follow them.
He first appeared near the Vasa school and was visible until they reached the Orkesta sports ground, where he suddenly shrank to the size of an orange and quickly disappeared into the sky.
They didn’t really think about it. Maybe it was a bright star, a planet, or even a helicopter in the distance. But the strange light was still in Hillevy’s mind as she drove through her parents’ yard at Malmen 5, a traditional Swedish two-story red house with white trim.
Her father Hildor met them on the porch and told Hillevy that the phone was not working and the TV was not working due to some kind of interference. The latter annoyed him. It was almost 20:00, and given that there are only two TV channels in Sweden, it was rare to sit down in the afternoon and watch the evening news.
Hillevy told him about the light that followed them, and almost immediately they saw something on the other side of the road where the old quarry is.
A strong, bright light hovered over the trees – and next to it a small ball of light zigzagged. Soon they saw that the lights belonged to some ship; oval with three rays coming out of it and directed to the ground.
The whole family froze with horror, and the children began to scream. Hillevy’s daughter threw herself on the ground and refused to get up. Suddenly, the ship shrank to the size of an orange, rose vertically with incredible speed and disappeared from view.
When everyone calmed down, they decided to go to Hillevy’s brother, Hilding in Scratbaken., 5 minutes by car. During the short trip, the alleged UFO was not seen from their vantage point. Upon arrival, Hilding’s wife met them on the street and immediately asked about the light that followed their car, which Hillevy did not notice.
At this point, both families were terrified. After everything that happened, she really wanted to see the strange object again. Hilding took his car to escort them and soon saw a hat-shaped object flying over and behind his car.
Shortly thereafter, a larger, oval-shaped object was seen 400 meters in front of them, hovering in the air about 10 meters above the ground.
Hillevy noticed a smaller orange ball floating nearby. These two objects began to follow Hillevy and her children. But somehow, in all this horror, curiosity grew even stronger, and she parked her car to see what was happening.
The light was now above them and flooded the car with bright light. Hillevy didn’t let her daughter get out of the car; Later, Hillevy’s daughter claimed that something told her to go outside. After a while, the bright large object disappeared, but before disappearing, it stopped at the barn, hovered for a while, and then disappeared from view.
Overall, Hillevy estimates that she and her family watched the phenomenon for 40 minutes over the entire evening. The next day, Hillvey called the police to report the incident, but they clearly showed little interest.
She called the Swedish National Defense Research Institute (Försvarets forskningsanstalt, FOA), which politely wrote down her statement. Their UFO administrator, Tage Ericsson, who had worked since 1965, was an outspoken skeptic and suggested that they were some kind of balloons – the standard response he often gave to such incidents.
During March 23 and 24, police collected a total of 76 reports from 31 witnesses, all from different parts of the Vallentuna area, each describing the same strange eerie light (sometimes describing it as oval or ovoid).
Former blacksmith, 90-year-old Karl Johansson, when he saw the UFO, was convinced that the sun rose early because the light was so strong. As a result, in the spring of 1974, UFOs were observed in this area for 43 days.
The previous evening, school janitor Gösta Häger was returning home from a social party in Markim. On the way, close to the ground, he noticed a strange light. He grew stronger as he approached him.
Out of curiosity, he approached him and was thrown to the ground by a powerful force. Some time later, he found himself outside his home in Lindholmen with a bleeding head wound, bruises on his face and no memory of what happened to him.
He woke his wife up desperately ringing the doorbell. The next day, he called the National Defense, which recommended that he contact Hardy Bornholm, who later became more involved in the case as an official investigator and intelligence collector.
On April 1 and May 24 of the same year, he met with the head physician Ture Arvidsson at Danderida Hospital and experienced two hypnotic regressions. Gösta described how he was taken aboard a ship and examined by “four translucent men.”
They wore tight-fitting “sweatshirts” and had no nose or ears. The creatures gave him a mission, but he was unsure of the details, other than that this mission could have happened in 2000.
According to Göst, they also placed an instrument on his forehead, which caused a burning pain.
Other witnesses could confirm Gösta’s words: a female cyclist saw the light in the same place and two men claimed to have seen a metal object in the field where Gösta was abducted, and the couple saw a UFO with lights.
Other bystanders experienced physical pain (including Hillevy, who explained her pain as if it was about to burst in two in the lower back), vomiting, migraines, and higher white blood cell counts – a side effect of radioactivity.
When Hillevy returned to the quarry with her husband and National Defense Representative Hardy Bornholm, they found three wedge-shaped tracks in the ground, and several trees lost their tops.
Some time later, the National Institute for Defense Research arrived at the scene to take samples of burnt grass and soil. According to eyewitnesses, they were wearing protective clothing.
Then-Commander-in-Chief Stig Sinnergren ordered the US Department of Defense to station two positions in the area in the coming weeks so that it could study the possible return of the phenomenon from different angles.
This was officially declared an Operation S military exercise. According to documents from the Swedish National Defense Research Institute, a conclusion was made about an alleged physical object over Vallentna that night, but no one could come up with a logical explanation.
What is less known is that the first sighting of this area took place several months ago. It was on New Year’s Eve, in Torsholm, less than 10 kilometers from the later incidents. It was between one in the morning and two in the morning, and a group of 4-5 people were returning home from New Year’s celebrations in a nearby house.
A large cigar-shaped object appeared in front of them with a bright light and a row of windows hovered above the ground and stopped at the edge of the forest. They studied the object – depending on which witness you ask – from 7 seconds to two minutes, then it dissolved and disappeared before their eyes. It was -10 ° C, there was no wind, and none of the witnesses had a logical explanation for what they saw.
But what makes the story even more interesting is that Hillevy almost died as a child, exactly in the same place where the UFO hovered near her parents’ house.
The quarry was used as a swimming place during the summer. Four-year-old Hillevy fell into the water and lost consciousness. She practically drowned. After being rescued by her father, she remembered being surrounded by beautiful light and a sense of peace.
