Florida gets hail the size of golf pits

Showers in Florida have been accompanied by golf ball-sized hail in Volusia County. In the rest of the state, the hail was smaller, but covered the ground with a thick blanket of ice. 

Local residents noted with surprise that very large pieces of ice fell from the sky along with small hail. 

Meteorologists said the hail was caused by a cold front and the hail storm will cause temperatures in Florida to drop this week.
